Meet Amee Shah

Amee Shah currently serves as Senior in-house counsel for a major retail firm. A role that requires her to evaluate risk on a daily basis, protect the company’s interest and play a key role in fostering the company’s growth and development. In addition, her extensive experience with contract and deal negotiation is a skill that she would utilize on behalf of our Township.

Amee graduated from Ridge High School in Basking Ridge and received her B.A in International relations from Boston University, with a focus on Foreign Policy and Security Studies. She received her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.

Amee and her husband Matt Kahn welcomed their first baby in February last year.  They have enjoyed being out in the community and taking in the beauty of the Great Swamp. They are excited for him to enter the first-class Chatham school system and to join the large variety of wonderful programs Chatham has to offer. Serving on the Township Committee is an opportunity to give back to the town that is home, while being fully invested in preserving its inclusive small town and family friendly feel.

Meet Phil Ankel

Philip Ankel (“Phil”) and his family came to Chatham five years ago after having worked and lived most recently in Germany and Hong Kong. He currently works as the head of audit for a large industrial multinational reviewing how the company handles financial, operational, IT and legal risks in its North American business. He is an attorney, with a B.A. from the University of California and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin.

Phil brings a background in public service to this role having spent nine years with the Commerce Department addressing nonproliferation and national security topics in Washington D.C. and abroad.

Phil serves on the Vestry Committee at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chatham Borough, along with two of his teenage children, rising seniors at Chatham High School. He’s a proud supporter of Troop 28, home to his son’s Boy Scout Troop and his daughter’s Venture Troop. His elder daughter is a Chatham High School graduate and a sophomore at the University of Chicago. Phil spends a lot of his summer days at the Colony Pool where all three of the family’s children have lifeguarded while Phil and his wife, Albie, enjoy the beautiful outdoor space. Phil and his family are involved in a range of other Chatham activities and communities.
